Is Paleopunk a thing? If Not, It Should Be.

I have an urge to start making a list of the various technology imps, demons, gods, etc. and start making little charms and fetishes for (and to protect against) each.

Once again, I blame it being Autumn.  I also blame it on the fact that I have an old vacuum-tube style TV and radio (with transistors!  and little tubes!) in the spare room, looking at me mournfully.

I am absolutely NOT contemplating the feral vegetation in the back yard for inclusion.  At all.... Or the bag of wires and computer boards I found in a box (along with my soldering iron) yesterday while hunting for my therapy ball.

What?  Don't look at me like that.  I would never do anything of the sort.

Okay, maybe I would.  We'll see.

Been A While

I know, I know... I'm an awful blogger, I've been ignoring you horribly.

Just haven't been doing much artistically lately, sadly.  Now, though, it's Autumn, which is always my most productive time of year.  I blame the glorious New England foliage...how can one NOT be creative when faced with all that gorgeous color?!

This is autumn, and the leaves are just starting to turn all the fiery shades that our trees produce.  The sky is that particular shade of azure blue that we only get this time of year.  The air is crisp and the breeze carries the scent of falling leaves, ripe apples, with just the barest hint of woodsmoke.  This is my favorite season, and one of the main reasons I stay in New England.

My usual autumn MO is to pack a couple of snacks, my camera and notebook, hop into the car, stop at Dunkin' Donuts for a pumpkin coffee, and wander off down the road wherever it leads me.  Explore little side roads, discover little roadside stands with delicious baked goods to take the place of whatever I'd packed, or maybe for dessert later, out-of-the way antique stores with the perfect tidbits to make into pendants, find a nice little spot to have a bite to eat and jot down some notes for sketch ideas or poems.

I can't do that this year, as my car is still not driveable from when it was taken off the road this spring.  I'm confined to the mile and a half radius that my knee allows me to walk, and I've walked it a thousand times.  I've taken pictures of everything I can, and there are no roadside stands or antique shops to explore that I haven't already picked over a hundred times, even if I had the money to acquire whatever neat little bits I may find.

Blarg.  I don't know what I'm going to do, but I should think of something.  I don't think I'm capable of making it through Fall without creating SOMETHING of interest.
