Dear Sun, I MISS YOU!

Today I have decided that it's time I get a lightbox.  A friend recommended this one, which I'm going to be seriously looking in to.  Winter's on it's way, and oh gods, even a single day of overcast and rainy just wrecks me now.  Winter in New England?  I remember last year, and most of a year being lethargic, achey, and severely depressed is NOT on my list of fun things to repeat EVER AGAIN.  (I tried doing Vitamin D supplements the year before, and they worked wonders, but then I went to the ER with a 3mm caltrop of a kidney stone, after which I found out that Vitamin D supplements can actually cause them.  Dammit.)

I also need better lighting in my workspace in general, since my only real work time is nights and weekends.  Winter in New England is like one long night, I swear.  So, lamps and a lightbox for me!

In other news, the mixed media base I'd set to drying the other day, did:

The scary thing is that it's still a bit brighter than the image shows, but, well, see aforementioned rain and lighting issues.  ;)

I got hit with an idea for another one last night, as well, while wandering the internet in search of folk tale critters (specifically information on wood-wives), so of course I had to go prep a base for that idea, too.

Once again, the color is a bit washed out.  It'll scan brighter when it's done.

Apparently I'm on a mixed media kick lately.  Or painting bases for mixed media, at least.  Yay paint!

Now, I should shower.  Working remotely from the DJ and while I have the option of not getting dressed until later in the day, I just never feel right if I don't.  Hope everyone has a good day!

  1. I love fall in Kentucky because it is still usually pretty sunny, but the dreary days of winter take their toll. Living in Ireland as a child, November was a very gloomy month. The days were so short and rainy, they definitely left us longing for light. Buying a light box is a wonderful idea.

    1. I always forget that Ireland's a fair ways north, since it's so much milder (climate-wise) than here. Winter's must very gloomy, indeed!
